U.S. President Trump and his team have decided to allow NVIDIA's H20 chip sales, but the China National Internet Information Office discussed NVIDIA today, asking for explanation of security risks behind the H20 chip vulnerability and submit relevant information, which has concealed uncertainty in the H20 chip sales.
The China National Internet Information Office (China Network Information Office) announced that recently, there were serious safety issues with NVIDIA chips. US MPs previously called for the US to export advanced chips that must be equipped with the "tracking positioning" function; American artificial intelligence experts also revealed that the "tracking positioning" and "far-closing" functions of NVIDIA computing power chips are mature.
Announcement states that in order to maintain the security of Chinese users' network and data, in accordance with the provisions of the "Network Security Law", "Data Security Law" and "Personal Information Protection Law", the Internet Information Network Information will discuss NVIDIA today, requiring NVIDIA to explain the security risks of the Chinese H20 chip vulnerability after the sale of H20 chips, and submit proof data.
Reuters reported that NVIDIA said two weeks ago that the company is applying to the US government to resume marketing of H20 graphics processors (GPUs) to China, and the US government has guaranteed that NVIDIA will obtain permission soon.
The US White House national economic consultant Kevin Hassett also said on the 29th that President Trump and his team have decided to allow NVIDIA's H20 artificial intelligence (AI) chips to travel to China in order to prevent China from leading the way in the best chip competition.
