Taiwan Electric's factory (Kumamoto I) located in Kikumatsu Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan has been mass-produced by the end of 2024, and plans to build the second factory (Kumamoto II) in Kumamoto Prefecture. The operation time of Kumamoto II Factory has been postponed from the original Q1 this year to "within this year". However, the WSJ pointed out that in order to address Trump's tax responsibilities and take American factories as the first priority, Taiwan Electric plans to promote the exciting project of Kumamoto II Factory, and the operation time may be further promoted. Regarding the above news, Taiwan Electronics responded to the saying "US investment plans will not affect existing investment plans in other regions."

WSJ reported on the 4th that many relevant people familiar with the plan revealed that in order to meet the tax policy of the Trump administration in the United States and take investment from American factories as the first priority, Taiwan Electric Kumamoto Second Factory's exciting project will be postponed.

Taiwan Electric Kumamoto Second Factory originally planned to be launched in Q1 2025 and then "in 2025".Taiwan Electric Chairman Wei Zhejia once said in June that the delay in the back-up operation was due to "traffic problems" such as car plugs. WSJ pointed out that relevant sources said that Kumamoto II's operating time "is likely to be further pushed" and it is now difficult to predict specific operating time.

WSJ pointed out that this can be said to be an example of "Trump's strong attitude in trade policy, justifying the interests of the alliance and attracting investment to the United States."

According to the 2016 News Communications News Agency, regarding the above-mentioned reports, Taiwan Electricity was interviewed on the 4th and said that its investment plan "will not affect existing investment plans in other regions."
