ESPN reported that the match between Liverpool and Preston will be held as scheduled.

Although Jota and his brother Andre Silva's unfortunate death last week made the Premier League champion's first pre-season friendly match at one point, the club decided to continue the game. Some first-team players are expected to participate, and they have returned to practice on Tuesday. The scheduled return to pre-season training was postponed as many players attended a funeral in Portugal last Saturday.

There may be memorial activities at the Deep Valley Stadium, and Liverpool and Championship rival Preston are discussing specific plans. In recent days, flowers have been presented outside the AXA training center and Anfield to commemorate Jota and his brother’s tragic death in a car accident in northwestern Spain.

The Spanish National Guard said on Tuesday that although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, they believe that Jota was driving a Lamborghini and caused the vehicle to lose control. Jota is believed to be driving to a ferry in Spain at the time, preparing to return to the UK for pre-season training at Liverpool.

Former Liverpool coach John Heatingga said when he was just appointed as Ajax's new head coach on Thursday that he was "silent" after learning the news: "I was sitting with one of my players Kane Fitz Jim, and I received a push message on my watch. Then I was silent. You first go and confirm whether this is true. The result is true... It's still hard to accept that this happened. Everyone has their own way of dealing with it. The thoughts immediately turn to his family, friends and teammates."
