The more easy cats are to suck, the smelly cat’s poop is! I believe all the poop shovelers have experienced it. Why is such a cute little thing so smelly that it can be so stinky?
Why is cat poop so smelly?
First of all, the natural attribute of the poop is smelly, and all kinds of creatures cannot escape this law, and cats are no exception. Cat poop is very smelly mainly because of the following two reasons:
1. The composition of cat poop
During the colon fermentation of endogenous and undigested amino acids in dogs and cats, several decay compounds will be produced (Bakke 1969a and 1969b, Tabor and Tabor 1985, Williams 1959), which is the main cause of the foul odor of dogs and cats.
These compounds include: ammonia; fatty amines (gallium butylamine, cadaverine, phenethylamine, putrescine and tyramine); branched chain fatty acids (isobutyric acid and isovaleric acid); indole (indole, 3-methylindole [skatole], 2-methylindole 2,3-methylindole and 2,5-methylindole); phenol (phenol, p-cresol and 4-ethylphenol); volatile sulfur-containing compounds (dimethyl® de, ® de, ® de and di-n-butyl disul® de) (MacFarlane and Cummings 1991). These compounds are produced by amino acids through deamination (for example, ammonia).
The study also found that most people feel that the taste of dog cake is lighter than that of cat cake cake, which is also scientifically based, because of the different content of sulfur-containing compounds.
2. Cats' dietary habits
The reason why cats are defined as pure carnivorous animals is because their enzymes that digest starch fiber and fructose in their bodies have poor abilities compared to other omnivorous animals. Therefore, the large amount of plant-based foods containing fructose in their dietary structure must be avoided.
Eating a small amount can be used as a good source of calories, but excessive specific gravity will cause the excrement to smell bad because some of it cannot be digested.
The protein, which accounts for the largest proportion of the nutrients of cat food, contains a large amount of sulfur-containing amino acids. The part that is not completely digested will be converted into a "stinky smell". Therefore, the higher the protein in cat food, the better, but the best thing that is truly suitable for cats.
In addition, if the cat drinks insufficient water, the smell of the cake will be heavier than when it is normal.
Do you need to worry about the big changes in the smell of cat poop?
Although cat poop is smelly, it is still in a tolerable range. If cat poop suddenly becomes unusually odor, the following problems may occur, and the shovelers need to pay attention.
1. Digestion and health of cats
If cats have parasites, indigestion, gastrointestinal diseases, cat plague, etc., it will cause feces to be foul-stenched or even soft, especially the smell of severe cat infectious diseases, which is even more useful.
2. Replace new grain
Many people have noticed that cats' poop will be extremely smelly after changing to a new grain. This is because cats' intestines, especially intestinal flora, are very fragile. Changes to grain (no matter how advanced and scientific this grain is) can lead to discomfort, resulting in indigestion and odor. We recommend a scientific gradual grain exchange method for seven-day grain exchange method, and don’t rush it.
3. After eliminating the possibility of disease, it is time to consider food quality issues. You should first think about whether the food itself is suitable for cats. If the food fed itself is unscientific or cat food is not suitable, it will be difficult for cats to digest and the feces will naturally smell particularly bad.
How to improve the problem of cat poop odor?
① Adjust the diet structure
Usually, pay attention to the healthy diet of cats, do not be too single, do not feed too many foods to cats, and do not feed leftovers to cats. You can feed cats staple food and feed them with appropriate amounts of meat, fruits and vegetables regularly.
It is best to feed cats regularly and regularly. If the cat’s stomach is relatively fragile, it is best to feed less and more meals!
②Deworm the cat
Observe whether the cat has signs of being infected with parasites. If so, deworm the cat in time. Normally, you must regularly deworm your cat internally and externally, which can reduce the foul odor caused by parasite infection in cats.
If a cat does not go out, it is recommended to deworm it once every 3 to 4 months. If a cat is often away, it is recommended to deworm it once every 2 to 3 months.
