Newcastle United now turns its attention to other goals, as Liverpool has joined the competition after Monday's offer was rejected and negotiations with Newcastle were not progressing. According to previous reports, Newcastle's 80 million euro offer Ekitic was rejected by Frankfurt, but they then expressed their intention to sign the player for a total price of 100 million euros.
Ekitic made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga for Frankfurt last season, contributing 15 goals and 8 assists. The current German turnover price is 75 million euros.
