What are the symptoms of a dog suffering from intervertebral disc spondylitis? How to treat it?

Disc disease in dogs is a sudden herniation or extrusion of the disc after degeneration of the canine. 36-year-old Pekingese and Lion dogs are easily found, and often the incidence of intervertebral discs in the thoracic and lumbar spine is rare. The herniated disc causes compression paralysis of the spinal cord of the affected dog, which is more urgent and often occurs suddenly.

Reasons:

Due to genetic factors, calcium and phosphorus malnutrition in puppies, trauma, autoimmunity, cartilage dysentery, etc., cause the dog's intervertebral disc to degenerate.

1. When the intervertebral disc cartilage metaplasia, the disc core substance that can cause the intervertebral disc to be squeezed out into the spinal cord cavity can cause severe inflammatory reactions in the epidural cord, and the epidural space can also cause bleeding. Calcified or cartilage clumps may be left after modification and absorption.

2. If it is a metaplasia of intervertebral disc fiber, it often leads to herniation of the intervertebral disc herniation and local compression of the spinal cord.

Clinical symptoms:

The affected dog may suddenly experience general paralysis, or hindquarters paralysis, or unsteady walking, or unable to move. It means that people suddenly do not touch their waist or body. When people touch their bodies, the dog will howl. It means that its temperament is extremely rough, its gait is stiff or extremely cautious when walking, and sometimes even cry and hide under the bed and wait for people to reach the place. This pain only occurs when a person comes into contact with a part of the affected dog. If the nerve compression is related to controlling the intestine and bladder, this disease can also cause incontinence to the dog.

1. Cervical disc disease: neck pain, lowering your head, stretching your neck, resisting touching your neck. Neck muscle spasms. The forelimbs are limping and the gait is stiff and the strides are short. Different levels of quadriplegia and ataxia.

2. I feel pain in thoracic and lumbar disc disease and I feel unwilling to move my back. When touching the spine of a dog, you often feel allergic. The lesion site is generally one or two sections before the sensitive point. Different levels of hind limb light paraplegia and ataxia, and urinary fecal incontinence.

Treatment:

The quality of the treatment results and prognosis of this disease are related to the level of the spinal disc compressing the spinal cord horn or nerves. When the intervertebral disc is herniated, an acute inflammatory reaction also occurs around the surroundings, and the surrounding tissues are bleeding and swelling, making the spinal cord compression even more severe. In the early stage, give the dog some anti-inflammatory and edema drugs to treat, and the symptoms will generally be relieved within 3-5 days. General treatment requires timely pain relief and anti-inflammatory treatment, and appropriate restrictions on the activities of the dog. Dogs with this disease must be kept for two weeks. For the treatment of sequelae of this disease, radical Chinese medicine acupuncture therapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine is more practical and effective.
