The mucosa of the glans and foreskin surface of the dog is inflamed, which is called the balanitis of the dog.

1. Causes of balanitis:

1. Primary balanitis is caused by bacterial infection.

2. Secondary can be caused by trauma, foreign body, and penile lymphoid hyperplasia.

3. Urinary tract infection spreads, and mating with female dogs suffering from reproductive tract diseases can also cause infection and inflammation.

2. Clinical symptoms of balanitis in dogs:

1. Light green pus and smegma are often discharged from the foreskin holes and lick the penis by yourself.

2. Penile lymphatic tissue hyperplasia is similar to a cyst, the cyst cavity is filled with fluid, and mild stimulation (breeding, sperm collection) can cause the follicle to rupture and bleeding, and sometimes even the entire mucosa to hemorrhage.

3. If the affected dog is often bred or sperm collection, causing the follicle to continue to change, a hemorrhagic cyst covering the glans can form. This cyst can disappear on its own after 1 week of stopping breeding without leaving any trace.

3. Prevention and treatment measures for balanitis:

1. Rinse the foreskin with 1:4000 chlorhexidine solution twice a day. After washing, use antibiotic ointment. For stubborn cases, 200/0 copper sulfate solution can be used to rinse the foreskin mucosa.

2. Press out the penis every day for 5-7 days to ensure that adhesions do not occur.

3. If lymphatic tissue hyperplasia occurs, relatively strict treatment is required.

4. The animal was anesthetized, the lesion was cut with gauze, and the lesion was corroded with 5% silver nitrate solution.

5. Use corticosteroid ointment daily to monitor for adhesions and infections.
