Dogs are human beings’ loyal best friends and life partners. Recently, a house in a community on Dahongmen Road caught fire. A Pekingese woke up its sleeping owner, allowing him to narrowly escape and save his life. This little Pekingese is really his owner’s lifesaver. But residents had better pay attention to safety. Fire is a serious matter.

Lao Ma’s puppy saved his life. At around 10 o'clock yesterday morning, a fire broke out in a resident's home on the 17th floor of Building 42, Nanding Village, Dahongmen Road. When the fire broke out, only the hemiplegic Lao Ma was alone at home. He was still asleep, but fortunately the dog at home woke him up. At around 12 noon, the fire was completely extinguished. One resident was knocked unconscious by thick smoke during the fire.

Building No. 42, where the fire broke out, has 18 floors. It is an old-fashioned residential building built in the 1990s. The house where the fire broke out was located on the 17th floor. The witness recalled that at around 10 a.m., he suddenly saw black smoke coming out of the window of bedroom No. 1708 and flames jumping out. Then, flames jumped up from the window and ignited the residents' homes upstairs. It was not until around 1 p.m. that the male owner of the house No. 1708 where the fire broke out was rescued by firefighters.

It is understood that the male owner of No. 1708, whose surname is Ma, is in his sixties, hemiplegic and has difficulty moving. At the time of the incident, Lao Ma planned to use Chinese medicine to hot compress his left arm, so he put the hot compressed Chinese medicine in the bedroom to heat it. Lao Ma was waiting in the living room, but fell asleep. The white Pekingese puppy at home suddenly barked at him, and he woke up and quickly called for help. Lao Ma recalled that when he woke up, he found that the sheets in the bedroom were on fire and the Chinese medicine being heated was placed next to the bed. Therefore, he felt that the heated Chinese medicine may have caused the fire.

Because the floor was too high, it was difficult for firefighters to put out the fire for a while after they arrived. Firefighters carried hoses upstairs, hung them from high-rise windows, and supplied water directly from fire trucks below the building, eventually extinguishing the fire. The bedroom in the house No. 1708 was almost burned to the ground, and the residence upstairs was also burned to a complete mess. Affected by the fire, Building 42 lost power and water, and residents in the building had to climb stairs to go upstairs.

No one was killed in this fire. However, an aunt who lived on the 18th floor was fainted by the thick smoke. She was carried out by firefighters with non-life-threatening injuries. After the fire broke out, some elderly residents on the upper floors of the building were unable to go downstairs, so they leaned on the windows and called for help. After firefighters rescued them from house to house, they were carried downstairs on stretchers.

After the fire was extinguished, notices were posted on the property property of the community and losses were registered door-to-door. Public security, fire and other units are also investigating the cause of the fire.
