According to the Sun, Southgate is willing to coach Manchester United, but hopes to get enough time to rebuild.

Southgate is willing to consider the possibility of coaching Manchester United, provided the club decides to part ways with coach Amorin, who is currently struggling.

A reliable source revealed that Southgate, who has been a Manchester United fan since childhood, believes that it may take as long as four years to make Manchester United a strong contender for the Champions League again.

Therefore, Southgate hopes that the club's top leaders will be able to commit to a clear long-term plan and stick to it. But Southgate is also worried that Manchester United will be eager to achieve success, especially if he can quickly bring certain results after taking office, but he himself is more inclined to steadily advance changes in a longer period of time.

Southgate is currently focusing on developments in other areas, including two speeches in London and York next month to promote his new book, Dear England: The Topic of Leadership. In addition, Southgate has also participated in some non-football-related projects and has said that he may no longer coach in the future.

Since Sir Ratcliff took over Manchester United in February 2024, Southgate has been associated with Manchester United's coach many times. Ratcliffe has commissioned cycling legend Brellsford to take charge of Manchester United's structural reforms, and he is Southgate's close friend.

Former Manchester United sporting director Ashworth, who worked with Southgate for England, also recommended him to replace Tenhach, but the proposal was rejected by CEO Berrada, who personally chose Amorin.

Brellsford once supported Ashworth as athletic director, but Ashworth was fired after only five months of office, and Ratcliffe said he had "lack of chemistry" with the club.

Today, Brellsford has withdrawn from Manchester United's football affairs and returned to cycling to serve as general manager of Inelos, but remains on Manchester United's board of directors. The departure of Brellsford and Ashworth may become an obstacle for Southgate to coach Manchester United, after all, he has a close personal relationship with the two and has a close cooperation.

It is worth mentioning that Southgate has never coached Premier League teams since he was relegated to Middlesbrough in May 2009. However, he had a great record while coaching England, leading the team to the World Cup semi-finals and two European Cup finals, and was awarded the Jazz Medal.
