According to the "Sun" report, the alarm in the swimming pool area of Chelsea's Cobham base was triggered, leading to the emergency evacuation of all personnel in the main building due to concerns about a chlorine gas leak.
Surrey County Fire and Rescue Department quickly rushed to the scene to investigate. It is understood that the players had already changed into their training clothes when the incident occurred, and the evacuation did not affect their training at 3 pm as planned to prepare for Saturday's league match against Sunderland.
Chelsea Club later issued a statement confirming that the fire department finally confirmed that the alarm was a "false alarm" and that the players and staff had returned to the building safely. The report pointed out that the 56-foot-long hydrotherapy pool involved is a key part of the base's advanced facilities, equipped with underwater treadmills and cameras, and is used for players' injury recovery and routine relaxation.
This is not the first time an accident has occurred at the Cobham base recently. It was previously revealed that camera equipment worth 30,000 pounds was lost at the base and the police were called. The Cobham base cost 20 million pounds and was officially opened in 2007.
