According to British media talkSPORT, Wolves decided to fire head coach Vitor Pereira after losing eight of their first 10 games in the new Premier League season. Wolves are currently at the bottom of the table and a win is hard to come by.
Wolves are the first team in Premier League history to start two consecutive seasons without a win in 10 games. Just over a month ago, Pereira had just signed a new three-year contract with the club. It is understood that there is a clause in the new contract that means Wolves do not have to pay the full liquidated damages.
After losing 0-3 to Fulham in the away game, the Wolves finally made the decision to change their coach. Previously, Pereira and some of his players had violent clashes with fans. An angry Pereira shouted at disgruntled fans and was pulled from the stands by staff after the defeat to Burnley. Wolves fans who went to Fulham to watch the game on Saturday even chanted "He will be sacked tomorrow morning", pointing the finger directly at Pereira.
Pereira just renewed his contract with Wolves until 2028 in September this year, but was fired just over a month later. Now the Wolves are looking for a new head coach.
Pereira has coached a total of 38 games, winning 14 games, losing 19 games, and drawing 5 games. Both of his wins this season came in the Carabao Cup, but that run came to an abrupt end after a 4-3 defeat against Chelsea. In the Premier League, Wolves lost 10 consecutive games, which eventually led to Pereira's dismissal.
The Wolves hope to find their next head coach as soon as possible. Next up, they face a tough series of games with the threat of relegation increasing. In November they will face Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Villa, and then they will face strong opponents such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.
